Electrical Challenges in Older Seattle Homes: The Full Picture for Pre-1980 Houses

Federal Pacific Electric and Zinsco panels were installed by the thousands in local homes from the 1950s through the 1980s, and both have documented defect patterns: breakers that fail to trip under fault conditions, and bus bar designs prone to overheating. Is knob-and-tube wiring dangerous?

Why are ungrounded outlets a problem?
