Washington install code, in brief
- Washington requires a permit for every water heater install or replacement
- Two seismic straps (upper and lower third of the tank) are required by code
- A T&P relief valve with a code-legal discharge pipe is required on every unit
- Gas units need exterior venting and combustion air; electric units need a dedicated circuit and disconnect
