Prepping Your Home For The Holidays

It’s the holiday season again and you know what that means; hosting family and late-night shopping trips that leave you coming home in the dark. This is the time to start thinking about your lighting.  Well, how is your outdoor lighting? Is it hard to find your way to the front door or to see the items you’re taking out of the car? Do you have areas inside your house that are dull or dark? We just want to give you a few things to think about to make your home safer, brighter, and more hospitable.

Indoor Lighting

Do you have well-placed lighting for your guests this season? If you find space in your home that is dark or not lit well enough, consider adding some lights to those. You can also update to brighter LED lights or lamps (LED is an energy saver and will last years longer than standard lighting). Always be safe with your plug-in lighting and minimize the use of extension cords or power strips.

Outdoor Lighting

It’s always good to have ample outdoor lighting on the walkways and driveway. When you’re pulling into your driveway, getting out of your car, or trying to unlock the front door; you need a well-lit path. Update your porch lights, motion lights, or add some walkway lights for better sight in the evening. Better lighting outside means better security, better vision at night, and a warm welcome to your guests.

Other Tips:

  • Be sure to check all your outdoor receptacles to see if they function properly. Inspect the exterior covers for any cracks.
  • Make sure that Water Heater has been serviced and everything is working correctly.

When getting your home ready for guests this season, think about lighting. Ask yourself if you have enough or if the lighting is doing what it should. Make great memories this season!
